In Self-tape gear
Check out this fun tutorial on how to create a quick reflector board. This board is so useful, and as it's so big, it really catches a lot of light and throws a nice, soft diffused light:

Michelle brought up a good question in class, which was how to get focus and exposure in the FiLMiC Pro app when you don't have an assistant, and you don't own the "Filmic Remote" app. First, this is a real age-old problem - how do you get focus and exposure if you're standing behind the camera instead of in front of it? There are a couple ways. First you can do it brute force, which is to use a "dummy", which can be a sweatshirt wrapped around a light stand or broom handle, which is set around the hight of your head, and use that to manually set your focus and exposure. Start recroding, then step in front of the camera and replace the dummy. Make a mark on the floor so you can easily get back to your mark. Take a few seconds of video, then stop recording and review your footage and make slight adjustments. Then repeat this process until you're happy. The next part is important - write down all your settings, including where your lights are, which lights they are, how strong they are, and all the manual settings in the camera, shutter, ISO and white balance. Then, you can more easily achieve the same result next time. Of course, we will be covering all of this when we get to our module on Filmic Pro!
